Explore Foxtrap’s shoreline, marina and farming history, with local landmarks and orientation in Conception Bay South.

Avalon Peninsula
Newfoundland & Labrador

Foxtrap's shoreline and farming history are closely connected. The Town's account of the Battle of Foxtrap describes opposition to railway surveying through cultivated land in 1880, followed by a route that kept closer to the coast. Today, the harbour on Delaney's Road and local heritage sites offer useful starting points for exploring this part of Conception Bay South. Farms, the railway and the Battle of Foxtrap

The Town's history places the confrontation in the wider debate about Newfoundland's proposed railway and its future relationship with Canada. It describes how residents feared the effects of a line through their farms and gardens. The later coastal alignment largely avoided inland farms, linking the area's agricultural history with the route along the bay. The Battle of Foxtrap

This is community history rather than a description of every present-day property. For a home with a garden, outbuilding or larger outdoor area, check what actually belongs to the lot and what the tenancy includes. The Conception Bay South overview introduces the wider town and its other community guides.

The harbour at Delaney's Road

The Harbour Authority Association of Newfoundland and Labrador lists the Foxtrap harbour authority at 80 Delaney's Road. Its member information describes facilities serving vessels, including shore power, fresh water and a picnic area, and says pleasure craft are accepted. Contact the harbour directly about current services, access and any berth arrangement before planning around them. Harbour authority member information

For someone comparing rentals, the harbour is a local landmark to locate on the map, not an amenity automatically included with a nearby home. A property advertised with a water view does not establish waterfront ownership, a place to keep a boat or access across another lot. Check those details separately if they matter to your move.

All Saints Cemetery No. 1 and local heritage

Heritage NL records All Saints Anglican Cemetery No. 1 on Oake's Lane as a municipal heritage site. Its description identifies a hillside setting overlooking Conception Bay, marked gravestones from the 1850s and unmarked slate stones. This is a specific burial ground with its own history, rather than a general designation covering every Foxtrap home. Heritage NL cemetery record

Use the record to understand the landmark and respect its purpose as a cemetery. It does not establish visitor opening hours, a public shortcut or permission to cross adjoining property.

Questions about the home's outdoor arrangements

These are general rental questions, not findings about Foxtrap properties. If a home has a shed, garden or space that might suit equipment storage, establish whether it is included, how it is accessed and which activities are agreed. Do not assume a driveway has room for a trailer simply because the harbour is nearby.

For a property with land beside or behind the home, ask the owner to identify the included area and any shared access. Record the condition and agreed use of gates, storage and outdoor space before handover. The new-tenancy preparation guide covers the wider preparation process; owners changing management of an occupied rental can also use the management-transfer guide.
